How do I package my item?

Your item needs to be packaged suitably for transport handling, based on its size, shape, weight and fragility.

  • For loose items smaller than a pallet they should be packed into sealed cartons.  The strength of the carton and the amount and type of packing materials around the item should reflect the weight and fragility of the item packed in it.
  • Loose cartons will usually be consolidated into a cage based on destination.  This cage will have up to three forklift load/unloads and be subject to some movement as it travels on-road.
  • Items large and/or heavy enough to require a skid or a pallet need to be suitably protected from damage by padding/covers and securely wrapped or strapped to the skid or pallets to ensure safe transport.
  • The right packaging is critical to a safe freight journey.
  • Each item requires a label with a minimum of receiver name and address and sender details clearly visible.
